Michelle A. Zarowitz, LMFT, Psy.D.
Licensed Clinical Psychologist & Marriage and Family Therapist
My clinical practice includes work with adults, adolescents and couples, who are struggling with various interferences in their relationships and individual lives.
Through psychotherapy, I aim to facilitate a sense of curiosity about one’s internal world and underlying motivations.
By understanding roots of dissatisfying relational patterns, we can make more conscious choices about our life circumstances and relationships. In developing a trusting meaningful relationship in therapy, deeper connections can be experienced in one’s personal life, as well as greater feelings of fullness, agency, authenticity and overall satisfaction.
I have a particular specialization working with varied forms of trauma, as well as anxiety, depression, identity conflicts, personality disorders, and complex relational difficulties. I work collaboratively with each person to determine areas in which you wish to develop or change, and actions needed for these changes to manifest.
I hold a doctoral degree in clinical psychology from Yeshiva University’s Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology. Additionally, my Masters degree in Counseling Psychology is from the University of San Francisco, and undergraduate degree from Hampshire College focused on intersections of the arts, sociology and psychology.
Before entering solo private practice, I worked with a group practice in Williamsburg Brooklyn. I have also worked with several community mental health organizations and counseling centers, as well as Harvard University’s hospital system, Mt. Sinai’s World Trade Center Mental Health Program, and Columbia University’s Center for Psychoanalytic Training and Research.
